  1. From Northminster member Darrell Cluck:

The following is a poem written when I preached on the text, revised in response to the sermon today.

    THE FLASHING OUT
    Luke 9:28-36

While dreaming on a mountain drenched in awe,
Before my eyes had opened wide enough
To drink in all the wonder which I saw,
    Immortal heroes battled Behemoth.
Awakened now, the legends live for me.
I see, there, Moses exodused to us,
    Elijah, now, dispatched from heavenly
Abodes and sent by fire here to discuss:

The reigning of the servant sacrifice,
The madness of the Messianic way,
The fixed amount of blood contracted price,
The glory only shame could ever pay.

So bright was Jesus flashing out that night,
That I have scorched upon my seeing since,
    Another image over every sight:
The One who is of radiant brilliance, Prince.

    Epiphany above all earthly light,
Transfigure me, and all my world as well.
    Despair has darkened every day to night;
Bring down transfiguration where we dwell.
